#1. Today teenagers are the most racially diverse group of Americans in history. Young people today are also more racially tolerant than any previous generation. More of them are growing up in multicultural households than ever before.
#2. In the 1950's the Brown vs. The Board of Education case ruled that racial segregation of schools was illegal and racial prejudice remains very much a part of life in America for many young people.
#3. At the white schools, the buildings, textbooks, playground equipment, and even the chalk for the blackboards were good quality. At the black schools, the books were likely to be out of date, educational materials were scarce, and the facilities were often in need of repair.
